Moffitt Services is proud to celebrate the incredible success of the inaugural “Lost Is Not Alone” evening, which honored our founder, Roy Moffitt, as the Corporate Honoree at the 25th Anniversary gala for Texas EquuSearch. The event, held at The Post Oak Hotel, raised over $750,000 to support the organization’s mission to find missing persons. While unable to attend, Roy Moffitt’s son, Ryan Moffitt, accepted the award on his behalf.
A Legacy of Unwavering Generosity
Moffitt Services’ enduring partnership with Texas EquuSearch began over two decades ago, rooted in the Moffitt family’s deep commitment to community support. In his acceptance speech, Ryan Moffitt recounted that the relationship started when a Moffitt Services employee, Steve Skidmore, heard that Texas EquuSearch was losing volunteers due to high fuel prices. Knowing Roy Moffitt’s generous character, Steve immediately promised the company’s assistance before even contacting the founder. Roy Moffitt Sr. instantly agreed to help, recognizing the mission as “simply and unquestionably the right thing to do.”
The reason Moffitt Services stepped in was simple: they had the resources to make a difference. The company began fueling Texas EquuSearch’s essential equipment — from generators that power their command trailer to the skid steers and ATVs used in search operations. Recognizing additional needs, Roy and Rusty Moffitt also committed site services equipment, including porta potties, handwashing stations, and roll-off containers, which are critical resources during search deployments.
This commitment has continued to grow over the years. Moffitt Services not only delivers fuel tanks to Texas EquuSearch’s property and supports their marketing and fundraising efforts, but also hosts the annual Moffitt Charity Golf Tournament, which raised $50,000 last year and will return on October 13th. In a recent episode of the Fuel Disclosure podcast hosted by Fred Whitfield and Landri St. Clair, Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller shared that the organization has led more than 2,300 searches over the past 25 years. Ryan Moffitt shared that his father attributes his success in business not only to diligent work but also to generosity and a responsibility to steward resources toward godly ends.
Record Funds for a Vital Mission
The “Lost Is Not Alone” gala marked the 25th anniversary of Texas EquuSearch, which was founded in 2000 by Tim Miller after the tragic loss of his daughter. The event saw more than 470 guests gather and raised over $750,000 to support the group’s critical work.
Texas EquuSearch has assisted in more than 2,000 cases across the U.S. and internationally. Crucially, the organization never charges families for its assistance; its work is entirely supported through donations and volunteer efforts. The funds raised at the gala will directly ensure that Texas EquuSearch can continue to bring “hope, resolution, and closure to families of missing loved ones”.
Moffitt Services stands by the founder’s core value to help those in need to the fullest extent possible. As Ryan Moffitt concluded in his remarks, Texas EquuSearch will continue to have the full support of the Moffitt family and the organization.
